Envision Pharmaceutical Services Receives URAC Pharmacy Benefit Management Accreditation – Setting the Standard for Other Pharmacy Benefit Managers
URAC, an independent, nonprofit organization recognized as a leader in promoting health care quality through its accreditation and certification programs, announced on October 2nd that Envision Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. (“Envision”) successfully earned its Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) Accreditation through the first voluntary accreditation developed for the industry. URAC’s accreditation standards required rigorous, on-site, independent evaluation of Envision’s organizational quality, customer service, communications, disclosure of pricing policies, pharmaceutical distribution, drug utilization management, and formulary/pharmacy and therapeutics committee.
“Our organization is pleased to be among the first to receive this very important industry accreditation. Envision has been a leading innovator in the pharmacy benefit management (PBM) industry since 2002. Our genuinely transparent model is changing the way employers and the industry think about pharmacy benefits. This accreditation is aligned with our strategic vision and our corporate values,” said Kevin Nagle, Envision’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
URAC PBM Accreditation is the most recent confirmation of the innovative, industry-changing initiatives led by Envision; initiatives designed to advocate, protect and empower employers and consumers, which include architecture of the first transparent pharmacy benefit management model and technology which provides 100% pass through of rebates at the point of sale.
The accreditation standards were developed by a group of experts who purchase, reimburse, and manage prescription drug programs in addition to those who prescribe, dispense, and use medications. Accreditation is a validation that companies are committed to quality and accountability throughout their operations, according to URAC executives.
As the architect of the true transparent pharmacy benefit management model and as the technological innovator who introduced its unique point-of-sale rebates offering to the pharmacy benefit management industry, Envision has represented the catalyst of positive change in the industry. Envision has been a leader in the highly complex Medicare Part D market and was approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) as one of only 17 Prescription Drug Plans to provide National coverage in all 50 states. Envision further expanded its Medicare offering for 2008, to include Employer Group Retirees, through its receipt of CMS’s Employer Group Waiver Program.
